I decided to include those verses cited two or more times in the RCS, rather than just three or more. This way at least you have them and it’s up to you as to how you use them with the very dear Philippians.
I’m more than happy of course to go through these as we learn together and they come up, just let me know!
One technical note while I think of it: there could be an instance or two where the verse citation is slightly different because, according to the Greek text Introduction, where English verse numbers differed from the Hebrew they use the English. Unfortunately, Christian translations follow the LXX (Septuagint), rather than the Hebrew.
Fortunately, this should only be a very minor problem at most.
Of the 5 Books of the Torah, Yeshua cites the most from Devarim (Deuteronomy), so citations in the Gospel should be especially noted.
It’s not necessarily uncommon that there doesn’t seem to be a correlation between a Torah verse and that in the RCS. This is because also not uncommonly, only a part of the Torah verse is drawn from by the RCS speaker or writer. If there doesn’t seem to be a correlation between a Torah and RCS verse., it may have to do with English rather than the original languages, as well as context
It is also very key to keep in mind that the RCS writers, while operating from Ruach Hakodesh inspiration, have a ‘Hebrew and Jewish heart’ rather than a ‘Greek and Western mind’. (With the notable exception the author of Hebrews. My guess, based on the sophisticated level of Koine Greek and the style of the argument, is that the author is probably Apollos).
Thus the authors of the RCS approach the Hebrew Bible very differently than Westerners! It is also very much why it’s been very correctly said that sometimes the difficulty Westerners have with the Hebrew Bible is, ‘it’s an Eastern book in a Western world’
