More About A Word from the Word

** A 5-10 minute deeper, daily devotional – that also includes a little feeding for you from the Word!

We begin A Word from the Word, your daily deeper Hebrew & Jewish devotional and encouragement, by looking primarily at love – as well as other things as they come up to encourage you with!

Why love? There’s 100’s of uses. Yeshua emphasizes it. Everything flows from it.

The last writer of the Word is Yochanon (“God is gracious”, John’s original Hebrew name). Yochanon uses love far far more than other writers.

We believe this is because the Ruach Hakodesh (the original name for the Holy Spirit, as we explain in our teaching; please see The Deeper Hebrew & Jewish Roots of the Bible from A-Z window above) wants us to be sure we understand and act with love!

We do this for you in audio form because it gives you a chance, God willing, to be fed a little from the Word – and be encouraged – during times when you can listen but can’t read.

One of the great Torah teachers astutely – and correctly – points out that we take in what we hear much more deeply than what we see.

Hebrew is a language more to be heard than to be read. Much more than three quarters of the Bible is either in Hebrew or contains Hebraisms in the Koine (“Common”) Greek – especially the Gospel.

We believe this is why Yeshua stresses “ears to hear” cf. esp. Mt. 7:24 – and its context – cf. Rev. 2:7, 11, 3:6, 22.

The Greek Concordance lists 428 uses of “akouo” “hear” – far more than the KG words “see” and “scrutinize, observe closely”, combined!
In short, in Hebrew when something is heard it is expected to be acted upon!

The LORD expected His Torah to be acted upon by the Israelites. Cf. the especially key verse Dt. 6:4 and note Mk. 12:28-30.

Yeshua does not expect his words to be “believed” in the Greek/Western “passive” sense.

Rather, our wonderful Master expects the Hebrew “hear” meaning in part, “take in, agree with, and act upon what is heard”!

We hope our Word from the Word will inform and encourage you and lift you up to do just that!

God willing and with His help, these will also include daily teaching and encouragement for you from:
