You will notice that these steps in Jerusalem, from this angle, show that one would ascend upward.
One of the better known of the Torah’s teachings from Genesis, among very observant Jews, is known as Jacob’s Ladder Genesis 28:12-17 vss. 12-13.
The rabbis correctly and astutely point out two “keys” in this passage from the Hebrew. The angels are seen ascending on the ladder rather than descending. The feet of the ladder are on the Earth, the head of the ladder is in the Heavens.
What is the significance? In short, it is not about Heaven descending down to Earth; but rather that those on the Earth and the Earth ascend upward to be like the Heavens!
In short, Yeshua’s Prayer (Mt. 6:10) in the original is “in Heaven and – in connection/connectedness – the Earth”.
Thus, in short, it is about spiritually ascending ever upward to draw close to the heart of Yeshua and through prayer – and our godly actions – to ascend upward to the LORD, to be closer and even more godly and Mashiach like through our prayers!
Further, to recognize the Universal Bigger Picture opportunities we have, even in desperate situations.
To “be and do” more like Yeshua, as a result of trials and tribulations.
That the Psalms help us to recognize that God may give us trials in order to, and as a means to, help us ascend upward!
Having gone through trials and tribulations, we will we then seek to live at a higher spiritual level, for Him and for others.
As we explain, heal in Hebrew literally means loosen. Once loosened from the grip of physical, spiritual, or emotional constraints, we are free (!!) to ascend, to be better for the experience!
To desire also to intercede (one of prayer’s meanings in Hebrew) for others.
