This was Paul’s Pharisee-like (cf. Acts 23:6 et al.) question to the Corinthians followers of Yeshua.The Corinthians apparently thought that they were really something. Paul uses the Greek word kauxe ‘ boast’, more with the Corinthians, as well as with the Roman Gentiles in Romans, and the Greek for puffed up/puffedupness, than with anyone else he writes to.
To use one very dear brother’s term, many Christians today have the Western Religious System ‘baked in’ to themselves. An extremely key question, dear one, is this: based on what we actually see in the Bible, is it really the Gentile Religious System, that is the source or means of keeping your salvation, a source of for you and, one to which a follower is to ‘give’, because the follower has an ‘obligation’ to do so?
