Post-Biblical Western tradition says the truth of the Resurrection is the basis on which Western tradition stands or falls. While Western tradition acts as though they have the truth about the Resurrection, the truth is none of our wonderful Mashiach Yeshua’s Resurrection appearances were to Gentiles – period.
Jews – and only Jews – were the only ones who saw the resurrected Yeshua. It was entrusted to them to relay the truth of the Master’s Resurrection. The good doctor Luke of course did not witness the Resurrection. Luke in fact draws from Jewish sources, while writing under the inspiration of the Ruach Hakodesh (the original Hebrew name of the Holy Spirit).
Western tradition typically takes a decidedly totally Western approach to the Resurrection. That is, Western tradition seeks to prove the truth of the Resurrection by taking a Western legally based argument.
Western tradition also typically takes an Athenian, Aristotelian reason and logic approach to try to prove the Resurrection. Yet for all their vaunted intellect, the Athenians had only the vaguest notion of God and scoffed at the idea of resurrection. Cf. the second half of Acts 17.
Is that Paul’s approach with the Corinthians in 1st Corinthians 15? Absolutely not! As we hope you’ll learn, Paul – in fact – takes an approach that is totally the opposite! Paul – the Pharisee (cf. Acts 23:6 esp.) – takes a Hebrew, Jewish, and yes, very Pharisee-based explanation for the truth of the Resurrection to the Corinthians.
We have for you, we humbly believe, a very original audio teaching on Paul’s teaching on the Resurrection in 1st Corinthians 15 – as with all our teaching it is taken from the original languages.
