Dear one, as one very dear brother once put it, what the Western Religious System teaches Christians is ‘baked in’. Most of those who either say, “We’ve left the System”, or, “We’re looking for our Hebrew Roots/Jewish Roots” or, “We want/need more”, don’t realize how what’s ‘baked in’, is still ‘baked in’.
As we hope we open up in our audio on doing an inner purging/purification, drawn from Paul’s teaching to his beloved Timothy on false teaching, in 2 Tim. 2:21-22, one cannot merely add true, correct teaching, to false, wrong, or incorrect teaching.
Paul’s Greek in 2 Tim. 2:21-22 typically simply translated ‘clean’, draws from the Hebrew of a well-known principle in the Torah, particularly found in Leviticus. That key principle in Hebrew in part is being absolutely pure and spiritually balanced, free to ascend the highest spiritual heights.
To use a Hebrew based metaphor, we all know what happens if we pour fresh milk into a container of sour milk. Does the sour milk become fresh? No; the fresh milk is ruined.
Paul in 2 Tim. 2:21-22 does not say to add correct teaching in with incorrect teaching. He says – in the context of false teaching about the resurrection of followers of Yeshua – the following. The vessel – the follower of Yeshua – who does an inner purging/purification (of false teaching), will be (a) useful vessel for the Master.
They will be able to do the good works, that in Greek, have been prepared beforehand for them to do!
Dear one, the teachings that follow here, are done for you with love. They are expressly designed to help you ‘purge out’ false, wrong, or simply incorrect teaching. Also, to help you build a solid foundation as you go forward in your learning.
Christians are very rarely taught from the Bible’s original languages. The Bible is taught from a translation, as though the Bible or those in it, understood, thought, or spoke in English, and lived in the Bible Belt. This is no more accurate – or authentic – than portraying William Shakespeare as an Orthodox Jew who lived in Jerusalem and wrote Hamlet, Macbeth et.al, in Hebrew!
Also – too often – Scripture is simply taken with no context or taken out of context. This also too often leads to it being misapplied from how it was intended.
The teachings below are designed to begin the process of purifying the vessel, as you go forward.
May our wonderful LORD richly bless your study of His Word, as illuminated for us by His Son Yeshua!
My very dear ‘Philippian’ brother John and I are here to help you study your Bible more deeply – and walk it out!
