UPDATES & NEWS

Greetings all in Yeshua’s name!

Just wanted to update you a bit on what’s going on.

Praise God we are looking to expand our teaching and outreach in ways beyond the website. God willing these will be used to draw people to the website because this is the place, as you can see by going through the Teaching page, for us to be able to have hundreds of teachings available – and more!

We are looking to expand our podcasts – but also in particular our Torah teaching – on to various podcast platforms.

We will also be looking in the same vein to expand our blogs as well!

There is also another key way we are looking to expand our teaching and outreach. More on that God willing when it comes closer to fruition.

John has completed the logistics for the last endeavor. It is now primarily on me (Jacob) to prepare and finish the content.

Using other means of teaching and reaching is actually a very Hebrew and Jewish idea, particularly Hebrew-based.

It’s also part of the dynamic of the impetus behind the website in the first place. That is, since nothing happens apart from our wonderful LORD and He is the Creator – along with Yeshua, based on the very Torah based (cf. Gen.1) opening of Yochanon (cf. Yochanon 1:1-5 esp. v.3), then we do the following. [Note: some of what Yochanon writes in the opening of Yochanon 1, is said to be drawn from earlier Jewish though. cf. also esp. 1 Cor. 8:5-6, Col. 1:15-17].

As we repeatedly repeat in our teaching: Hebrew is very concrete rather than abstract oriented. Unlike Plato who said all matter is evil and must be destroyed only spirit is good, in the Hebrew Bible the physical things of this World, are seen as inherently good. That is because again, as Paul in Greek more forcefully than English reminded the Roman Gentile followers, nothing happens apart from God. Cf. the opening verses of Romans 13.

We take the physical things of this world, whatever they are, and elevate them for a holy and spiritual purpose! That is the impetus behind the website and should be our impetus behind how we use technology.

I must very. quickly add – we have to be careful that we use technology to serve God – not wind up having us serve technology! Whenever I heard someone talking about their expensive cell phone etc, I would always say I don’t work for my phone, my phone works for me – and I work for God!

They would often reply, you’re right I do wind up working for my phone. Then if there’s time, I briefly explain how they can reverse that.

My feeling going back years ago and trying to get the website set up as I explained to more than one brother or sister along the way, was this. That the phone we were speaking together over or the internet were not invented to disseminate the Torah and the Good News.  Yet, we’re using the technology of the phone to do just that are we not? They would reply “yes” and I would say back God willing that’s exactly what we’ll do with the website.

We will use the technology that God allows Man to invent, and we will elevate it for a holy and spiritual purpose, in teaching His Word and loving and encouraging others through it!

One of our biggest obstacles has always been time. My very dear Christian brother John goes above and beyond, but praise God based on the amount of content He’s enabled me to produce, as well as both of us together, John could probably spend 50 hours a week (if he had it to spare) processing and uploading content to the site!

In the same way as much time as I put into this there’s a lot more I/we could do, especially with some additional resources.

No exaggeration(!) – we probably literally have two or three times the content yet to be processed and uploaded, then we do on the site! This is very very especially so when it comes to written content, which takes considerably longer to produce & process than audio content.

I (Jacob) of late though have particularly been focusing on either getting out prayer request emails or what I try to include with them A Little Learning Together.  This is one reason among others that unfortunately it’s been a while since some new content has actually been added to the site.

However, if you’re not on it already, if I have your email address, I’m more than happy to include you in these emails!  I’m very humbled and praise God that I’ve had some very nice responses to what’s in A Little Learning Together.  I also very much try to conclude those with something encouraging as well!

Though we are pressed for time – and it seems in 21st century America who isn’t – we always always always have time for your prayer needs and requests.  Either including it in an email or something I (Jacob) include in my traditional Hebrew and Jewish prayers.

If needed John is happy to also include those with his small group of “Philippians” that he oversees, ministers to, and teaches and learns together with.

We very much covet your prayers for our work, we certainly need them, and we covet your support, as we covet the blessings you receive through doing so! Cf. esp. Phpns. 4:17-19

God willing as things progress, we will keep you updated. Once again, if there’s no change to this letter for a while, it means then that our efforts are going towards other things.

Sometimes when it comes to what we need to do or what has to be left out because of time constraints, it’s the update and news. That’s basically because again, if there’s a choice to be made right or wrong, I’ve (Jacob) always made that towards producing what I hope is deeper teaching and encouragement for you!
