Deeper Bible Study – If That Is What You Desire That Is What We Desire to Give You
The last few decades have seen just tremendous growth and interest among Christians, for not only the Hebrew Roots and Jewish Roots of following Yeshua, but also for deeper Bible study in general!
People today especially, are very much looking for “more” – and a big big part of that is deeper Bible study.
The Torah, and Yeshua for that matter, often begin by illuminating for us what not to do followed by what to do. So let us first look at what might be called or what some might think is “deeper Bible study“, then look more closely at what deeper Bible study has to be.
What Deeper Bible Study is Not – And Why
Deeper Bible study is not merely – at all – just “word study”; most especially if it’s done in English! Deeper Bible study cannot be merely looking at various English translations. This may be relatively deeper Bible study than say something devotional; but is it truly deeper Bible study?
We would graciously say no; why?
Though unfortunately Western Tradition teaching far too often presents Scripture as though it were actually given in English by English speakers, the fact is no one in the Bible – no one (!) – thought, understood, or expressed anything in English – period!
What Then is Deeper Bible Study?
Truly deeper Bible study we would strongly posit, is that which looks in depth – and is taken directly from – the Bible’s original languages!
The saying “it loses something in translation” is never more true when it comes to the Hebrew of the Hebrew Bible! The deepest possible Bible study is that which deeply – and this is extremely important – also accurately – deeply rather than superficially, opens up the incredible richness and depth of the Bible’s Hebrew and often Hebraic/Jewish Koine (“Common”) Greek.
It brings you the closest to understanding, as much as we are able to, the actual words of the Father, of Yeshua, of the Prophets, of the writers of the Hebrew Bible, and to what the Jewish Brothers actually intended – and how – to follow Yeshua!
Deeper Bible study helps you to see the wholeness & connectedness of Scripture. It helps you and deepens your understanding of just how truly Majestic the LORD Be (there is no “is” in Hebrew; further, “Be” is part of the meaning of the Hebrew Name LORD)!
Deeper Bible study helps draw you closer to the LORD because deeper things are opened up for us!
The original languages are also a great aid to our deeper Bible study by helping us see what the LORD’s or Yeshua’s or the writers’ emphasis really is. That is, what they wanted us to be sure that we understood and acted upon!
How Does Deeper Bible Study Help Me?
Deeper Bible study helps fill us full spiritually as a full meal of food does so physically. In the same way a full meal gives us the physical strength to serve the LORD, so deeper Bible study nourishes us spiritually to serve Him Who provides for us, to serve others both physically and spiritually!
We can’t serve you a physical meal, but we move Heaven and Earth through deeper Bible study, to serve you, with God’s help, a satisfying and nourishing spiritual meal! Cf. Yochanon 21:15-17.
